Since 2020, our company has been distributing the brands of the Italian company STAR in Hungary, and from 2025 onwards in Romania as well.

Our Mission

Our Story

A Passion for Homemade Flavors Since 1948

The heart of Italian cuisine is family, home, and food prepared with love. At STAR, we have carried this passion forward every single day for more than 75 years.

1948

The Beginning

STAR’s story begins in 1948 in Muggiò, in the heart of Brianza, where Regolo Fossati founded the first factory. The name “Star” is the English translation of his wife Stella Pogliani’s name — a symbol representing the love of home and family.

A year later, his son Danilo Fossati joined the company and launched the brand’s true rise. His vision was simple yet powerful: to stay close to people, understand their tastes, and bring joy to the table every day.

The 1960s

The Birth of New Flavors

Following the success of the iconic Dado stock cube, Gran Ragù was introduced — Italy’s first industrially produced ready-made pasta sauce. The company relocated to Agrate Brianza, where it continued to build its tradition of innovation and quality.

The 1970s–1980s

On Italian Family Tables

Pummarò, the first industrial tomato purée, was launched, followed by Polpabella, diced tomatoes that introduced a new flavor experience to Italian cuisine. By this time, the STAR name had become synonymous with homemade taste and reliability.

In the 1980s, the company continued to grow, acquiring the Tigullio brand and becoming one of the leading players in the Italian food industry.

2007–2013

From Tradition to International Success

In 2007, STAR became part of the Gallina Blanca Star group, within the international food company Agrolimen.

In 2009, we launched Italy’s first ready-to-drink boxed broth, and in 2013, Saikebon was introduced — Asian noodles that brought a new dimension to the Italian market. STAR continues to preserve tradition while boldly stepping into the modern world.

Today – Commitment to Flavors, People, and Quality

Today, STAR is part of the international GBfoods group, which for more than 80 years has combined a love for local flavors with innovation and respect for communities. We are present in more than 30 countries across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, with well-known brands such as Gallina Blanca, Star, Grand’Italia, Jumbo, and Gino.

Every day, we work to bring warmth, flavor, and love to the table — just as we have done since 1948.
